THE PHANTOM OF THE MATTHEWS OPERA HOUSE
July 2-3. The Matthews Opera House & Arts Center, Spearfish. 7:30 p.m. Known as a local staple of summer entertainment, The Matthews Opera House and Black Hills State University theater department present an oldie but a goodie, open to all ages. More info: matthewsopera.com.
JULY DOWNTOWN BLOCK PARTY
July 6. 8th & Railroad, Sioux Falls. 5:30 p.m. Head on down to 8th & Railroad to celebrate Sioux Falls with live music, unique shopping, and local food. Free to the public, this event brings the community together by offering something for all ages, including a safe place to relax and enjoy downtown. More info: dtsf.com.
BADLANDS ASTRONOMY FESTIVAL
July 6-8. Badlands National Park, Interior. All you need for these three days of astronomy fun is your love for space, science, and the Badlands. This event if free with the paid park entrance fee, and will include telescopes for day and night surveillance of the sky. Don’t miss this opportunity to look up and explore the world above you. PRAIRIE VILLAGE RAILROAD DAYS
July 7-8. Historic Prairie Village, Madison. Times vary. Located two miles west of Madison, Prairie Village Railroad Days consists of two days dedicated to locomotives. Stop by for the chance to enjoy train rides, tours of steam locomotives, and a Saturday night concert by Divas Through the Decades. More info: prairievillage.org.
