Jillian Gunlicks and Megan Randall of Sioux Falls have always been entrepreneurs at heart, both working at and creating different businesses throughout the last two decades.

In 2012, they were both working as a side hustle at a paint and sip store downtown as art teachers.

“We continued to know and work with each other off and on in the wedding industry, but were really only acquaintances,” recalled Randall.

That all changed when they reconnected in January 2024 after a pivotal and spiritual trip Randall took to Peru. Shortly after she returned, Gunlicks felt a nudge to reach out.

She invited her to experience one of her Lucia Light Sessions in exchange for hearing about Randall’s experience, and that conversation opened the door to something “much deeper.”

“What followed was a powerful period of healing that Jillian and the Lucia Light Therapy supported me through—work that felt both personal and expansive,” said Randall. “As we journeyed together, we began to uncover a shared vision: to create a space that helps others move through their own experience of self care, healing, and transformation.”

That vision became Alchemy House—a holistic space and specialty spa dedicated to providing wellness, relaxation, and transformative healing experiences.

“IN A SPIRITUAL SENSE, ALCHEMY IS ABOUT TRANSFORMATION—THE SLOW, INTENTIONAL PROCESS OF TURNING WHAT FEELS HEAVY, STUCK, oR UNREFINED INTO SOMETHING MORE WHOLE AND MEANINGFUL. iT’S NOT ABOUT FORCING CHANGE, BUT ALLOWING IT TO UNFOLD THROUGH AWARENESS, CARE, AND PRESENCE.”

Jillian Gunlicks

“We wanted Alchemy House to be a place where people could walk in and immediately feel comfortable … somewhere you could slow down, relax, maybe just sit with a cup of tea and breathe for a minute,” said Gunlicks. “We also wanted a place that invites curiosity, where you might feel inspired to join a class, try a session with a practitioner, or open yourself up to something new.”

She continued, “More than anything, we wanted it to feel safe—for healing, for exploring, and for finding connection.”

Randall had already owned a building at 5001 Grant Street on the east side, so the pair got to work on the interior vision for their concept.

Randall, who is also the owner and lead interior designer of Renee Designs, wanted the entire space to feel both grounded and ethereal at the same time— the combination of the energetic and physical worlds. The duo brought in a greenhouse, spreading plant life throughout to give the feeling of being surrounded by nature at any time of year.

“The deep reflection, perspective, and nervous system healing I found in practices were profound and could not be denied. That very connection and combination of expanded consciousness with grounded reality has been so monumental, and I am passionate about sharing it with others.”

“I wanted every room you entered to provide its own unique energy,” she said.

The Tea House, for example, is earthy with warm mixed woods and colorful bird wallpaper. For The Salt Room, Randall kept it simple to keep the focus on the main component, the Himalayan Salt block wall.

“The walls were painted a pink hue to give the effect of the wall spraying throughout the room,” she described.

The Wellness Room was designed as a sanctuary of relaxation—calm, muted colors, supported by the background noise of the in-room waterfall.

AMANDA BOER, MSW, RYT-200-LIFE COACHING, INTEGRATIVE WELLNESS, BRAIN-SPOTTING REIKI, AND SOUND BOWLS

Amanda Boer owns and operates Alchemical Awakenings at Alchemy House, where she curates elevated holistic integrative wellness experiences designed to support relaxation, regulation, and future-oriented growth. Through supportive experiential offerings such as Shamanic Energy Work, Clinical Hypnosis, Brainspotting, Life Coaching, Energetic Sound Baths, and Private Yoga and Meditation, Boer helps clients move past that which is limiting them in the now. These experiences are intentionally crafted to stabilize the nervous system, strengthen internal resources, and provide embodied frameworks that empower clients moving forward. Amanda also hosts collaborative community experiences—including monthly circles, sound baths, and experiential educational gatherings.

In addition, Amanda is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), offering holistic, person-centered clinical mental health therapy through Linking the Gap Counseling. This work is specifically oriented toward supporting clients in processing past trauma, unresolved emotional experiences, and long-standing patterns that continue to impact present functioning. This is accomplished by integrating evidence-based psychotherapy with compassionate, nervous-system-informed approaches.

“It’s a space where people can come as they are and, through small moments of rest, reflection, and connection, experience subtle but powerful shifts. Not a before-and-after kind of change, but the kind that happens from the inside out.”

The grand space of Alchemy House—The Atrium—was curated with the intention of being a room that flows with the rest of the space, but can also be transformed into its own “mystical escape,” achieved by a lowered ceiling of twinkle lights and hanging vine, and walls that wrap around it “like a hug.”

“My favorite thing I hear from almost everyone that walks through our doors is, ‘It feels so good in here,’ said Randall.

Each area services its own purpose. The Salt Room provides Halotherapy, or salt therapy, which is a natural wellness practice that involves inhaling dry salt particles in a controlled environment. This therapy is inspired by the natural healing properties of salt caves, which have been used for centuries to support respiratory health and overall well-being.

The Wellness Room serves as a relaxing space where clients can enjoy herbal foot soaks, foot detoxes, and an infrared sauna. Services can be booked separately or you can rent out the entire room.

RENT THE ROOMS

All three of Alchemy House’s spaces (The Greenhouse 6-8 people, The Sanctuary 10-15 people, and The Atrium 25-35 people) can be rented out privately. They can be rented for any purpose, like book clubs, workshops, meetings, birthdays, bridal showers, baby showers, and more.

Along with being the focal point of the space, The Greenhouse is a grounded space to enjoy a tea with friends or to get some work done. It is also available to rent it out by the hour for private events.

“We have a book club in there every other week,” said Randall.

The Sanctuary is a private room for rent where the business houses the BioCharger and also hosts both smaller and private workshops and classes.

The Atrium is where Alchemy House holds larger group classes and workshops, such as breath work, yoga, sound bowls, and group gatherings and retreats. This too can be rented.

KAMP KIRSCH, CHT – BREATHROOT HYPNOTHERAPY

Kamp Kirsch helps people reset their nervous systems, reduce anxiety, and create lasting behavior change through breathwork and hypnosis.

Sessions are grounded in both modern psychology and mind-body science, while remaining gentle, practical, and deeply experiential. Kamp works with individuals who feel stuck in stress, overthinking, or old habits, guiding them into calmer states where real transformation becomes possible. Clients leave feeling clearer, steadier, and more aligned with how they actually want to live.

Kamp offers both one-on-one Zoom sessions and in-person work. The approach blends intentional breathing, guided relaxation, and subconscious reprogramming to help people build emotional resilience, improve sleep, and reconnect with a sense of presence. Rather than treating symptoms alone, Breathroot focuses on shifting the patterns beneath them so change feels natural and sustainable in everyday life.

MARISSA LARGE – BEAUTY CHARTER

Holistic esthetician and certified reiki master, Marissa Large is a passionate esthetician dedicated to holistic skincare, blending science and energy healing to nurture radiant, healthy skin from the inside out. Large integrates the power of touch, intention, and natural therapies to create a deeply rejuvenating experience for her clients.

Marissa’s approach goes beyond traditional skincare—she believes in the profound connection between mind, body, and spirit. Constantly exploring new techniques and ancient wellness practices, she incorporates energy work, herbal remedies, and intuitive healing into her treatments. Her mission is to help others achieve balance, confidence, and glowing skin through customized, soul-nourishing care.

Aside from intentional design, the duo also needed a talented team of practitioners and teachers to bring the business to life. Gunlicks knew just who to approach.

“Many were people we already knew and trusted, who felt aligned with the vision and were interested in having a space or a practice here,” she said. “A few others found their way in through friends or simply by expressing interest at the right time. It all unfolded naturally, and in the end it became clear the people who were meant to be part of this space found their way here.”

Alchemy House has over 15 practitioners and teachers offering one-on-one sessions and group classes.

All services and classes can be booked à la carte, and the wellness spa can also package services together, along with curating custom group experiences and packages.

There are also class punchcards and memberships available.

“With a wide variety of classes, gatherings, and one-on-one sessions available, there’s always an open door to try something new, deepen a practice, or simply follow your curiosity wherever it leads.”

MARK BUQUOR – PROFOUND BODYWORK

Mark offers two main services: massage and bodywork. He specializes in full-body Swedish massage tailored to the client’s preferences—whether they’re seeking firm pressure or pure relaxation. For bodywork, Mark and the client shift into deeper therapeutic territory. He specializes in his techniques derived from Myofascial Release (MFR) and Musculo-Tendonal Retraining (MTR)—techniques that facilitate lasting change. Bodywork is not just about how you feel during the session, but how you feel months later.

While some sessions are quiet and grounding, others are transformational. Mark intends to create space where emotional release, trauma unwinding, and deep integration unfold naturally.

Alongside bodywork and massage, he offers yoga, sound therapy, and Lucia Light N°03—a neural entrainment tool that supports inner journeying.

Every session is different, but his intention is always the same: to help clients feel more open, more at peace, and more at home in their body.

“We have three levels of memberships depending on how many classes and services you want access to,” said Randall.

Guests don’t have to be utilizing a class or service to experience the Alchemy House, though. Gunlick says The Tea Bar has become one the anchors of the business.

“We offer a variety of hot teas, lemonades, and hot chocolate, along with a few specialty favorites like matcha and London Fogs,” she said. “We also love featuring some local options such as Songbird Kombucha and The Breaks Coffee Roasting Co. French press coffee and cold brew.”

TRESSA TINGLE – SILVERS MODALITY HEALER

Tressa Tingle is an energy practitioner and astrologer whose work supports individuals navigating physical discomfort, emotional overwhelm, and pivotal life transitions. Tingle offers non-invasive, intuitive sessions that blend energetic awareness with grounded, practical insight, meeting clients at the intersection of body, pattern, and possibility. Her approach centers on the body’s innate intelligence, helping clients identify and release areas of energetic congestion that may influence physical discomfort, nervous system stress, and patterns of emotional or physiological strain. Many describe leaving sessions with significantly reduced levels of pain, alongside a greater sense of regulation, clarity, and connection. These shifts are often paired with noticeable improvements in mobility, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.

“PEOPLE CAN EXPECT CONTINUED OPPORTUNITIES TO PLAY, TO HEAL, AND TO EXPLORE AT ALCHEMY HOUSE.”

Jillian Gunlicks

The pair say more and more people are stopping in just to enjoy a drink or browse the retail space, which is filled with carefully-curated items from local crafters and specialty pieces chosen with intention.

For Gunlick, when every room is filled with people experiencing Alchemy House, it feels magical.

“There’s this quiet hum in the space—people connecting, relaxing, softening, being supported, and some are experiencing deep healing in their own ways,” she said. “And then there are the practitioners, fully in their element, doing the work they love, supported by the community, and surrounded by people who believe in them.”

“WHETHER IT’S TO ENJOY A GIRLS DAY OF TEA AND FOOT SOAKS, THE HOLISTIC HEALING OF THE SALT ROOM, OR THOSE LOOKING TO GO DEEPER THROUGH BREATHWORK OR REIKI SESSIONS, EVERYONE WHO COMES IN KNOWS THEY HAVE ENTERED SOMEWHERE SPECIAL, SOMEWHERE THEY KNOW THEY ARE SAFE AND WELCOME, AND SOMEWHERE THEY ARE FREE TO EXPLORE THEIR CURIOSITY OF THE METAPHYSICAL WORLD.”
