Whether you’re willing to accept it or not, summer is slowly coming to an end. With that, block parties, yard games, and fun in the sun are coming to an end, too. What better way to celebrate one last hoorah than with an ultimate backyard party?
The 13th Annual Wing & Brew Festival is August 11 on the front lawn of the Swiftel Center in Brookings. The festival celebrates local vendors by featuring craft brews and signature wings and sauces.
Here Are Five Things Festival-Goers Should Know:
- Taste a ton of variety of wing sauces. This is your best chance to try all those sauces you’ve been dying to try but only really want to start with one or two wings. Each vendor will let you sample small quantities of the wings/sauces so you get a great opportunity to sample!
- Area brew vendors are stoked to bring you some of their specialty brews.
- Live music will be going on all day. Kick off the festival starting at 12 p.m. with Chris Champion. At 1 p.m., KCountry 102.3 will host their Karaoke Contest. At 3:30 p.m., the band Bad Hampster will take the stage and play until the Wing Eating Contest at 7:30 p.m.
- Kids 12 and under are FREE with a paid adult. Plus, all the inflatables games are FREE! A great way to spend the afternoon with the whole family.
- Attendees can sign up to be in the Wing Eating Contest. You get two minutes and two pounds of wings. See how much you can eat before the clock runs out. Register at the Ticket Booth.
“It’s such a cool atmosphere on our front lawn with all the food and drink vendors, inflatables, and yard games. If you’re looking for the best way to spend a summer afternoon, this is it,” said Kristina Lankow, sales and marketing manager for the Swiftel Center.
