“The goal of the resort is to provide a venue for you to have family reunions, get togethers, weddings, and weekend getaways where you can just make memories,” said Lewis & Clark Resort owner and manager Michael Grave.
Located in the Lewis & Clark Recreation Area, the near 30-acre resort offers cabins, cottages, campsites, motel rooms, and the Lodge all overlooking the water.
The Lewis & Clark Resort has a laid back atmosphere that welcomes families for a vacation or event experience that’s just right for them.
“The Lodge is catered for big get togethers, family reunions, weddings, and vacations,” said Grave. “It has an 1,800-square-foot great room and double kitchen, which allows you to prepare meals and cook meals on site. It takes the headaches away from having a family vacation.”
With six bedrooms, two sofa sleepers, and four bathrooms, the Lodge sleeps up to 28 guests in its 4,000 square feet.
“We’re building two 3,000-square-foot cottages. They’ll be set up as smaller versions of the Lodge for family reunions and stuff like that,” said Grave.
“We’ve been in business for 34 years, and we’ve had some families coming for 34 years.” -Michael Grave
The newly-built cottages are scaled down to accommodate groups that only need the space to sleep up to 20 amongst the four bedrooms and three bathrooms. These spaces each have a 1,300-square-foot great room for hanging out and entertaining.
“We’re always changing to give more options to people who are staying. We’re adding on six full hookup campsites, so your whole family can come even if your cousin or uncle has a camper,” said Grave.
Smaller groups can look into the cabins that sleep 8-10 or the motel rooms, which sleep up to four.
“Yankton is a small community that does a good job of catering to the tourists,” said Grave.
The resort is located conveniently beside Lewis & Clark Lake, which offers plenty of fun, seasonal activities.
“The lake is one of the best recreational lakes you could ask for, especially in the area,” explained Grave.

Yankton is also alongside the Missouri River, so the resort has plenty of water-based activities to explore and try out.
“We have 27 miles of bike trails, outdoor pools, playgrounds, volleyball courts, bocce ball courts, basketball courts, picnic shelters, yard games. We have a little bit of everything,” said Grave.

Relax around the resort in the warm water of a heated outdoor pool, try your hand at bumping a volleyball over a net with your feet in the sand, or roast marshmallows over a fire pit for the perfect s’more—whether it’s golden brown or charred.
Being lakeside, the area is often buzzing with water sports from family fun like tubing to more laid back activities like fishing.

The resort is near the Lewis & Clark Marina, which is a full-service marina with boat service, fuel, and rentals for fun on the lake.
“Then there is lounging, campfires, boat rentals, pontoon rentals, and the whole camping experience,” said Grave.
Each of the six campsites has a 90-foot asphalt pad, promising more than enough space for outdoor activities on your site. They also offer full hook-ups with electric, water, sewer, cable, and wifi accommodations. Picnic tables and a fire pit are included.
