September 27 // SD CEO East Inaugural Women’s Visionary Summit // Mary W. Sommervold Hall, Washington Pavilion // 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

When women come together, big things happen. The SD CEO East Women’s Business Center is launching the inaugural SD CEO East Women’s Visionary Summit on September 27 on the Mary W. Sommervold Hall stage at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls.

“The SD CEO East Women’s Business Center mission is to empower women and propel economic development across the state of South Dakota, which just hypes me up every time I get to talk about it,” said SD CEO East Women’s Business Center director Sadie Swier.

The center started in 2021 and is a partner of the Small Business Administration and Black Hills State University that provides free, confidential one-on-one business advising, training, workshops, and network opportunities with a focus on women small business owners on the east side of South Dakota.

“Absolutely everyone is welcome to come to these events.” -Sadie Swier on attendees

“This Inaugural Women’s Visionary Summit also replicates the conference the SD CEO West Business Center has hosted for over 11 years and I was fortunate to attend this year. Their conference was incredible,” said Swier. “Even though there’s a variety of events in the Sioux Falls area, there’s a need for an event like this focused on women entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs.”

Swier says events like this fill a gap in the programming across the state, especially on the east side, that focuses on a woman’s approach to learning and growing a business. The summit will have a full day of speakers, a panel, an interactive workshop, and networking. A light breakfast and lunch will also be provided.

“Every day is different and I ‘wear many hats’ as we lay the foundation of this new organization.” – Sadie Swier

“That morning we want the attendees to feel as though they can focus on themselves and their vision of what their life can be. They can take a break from their busy life to feel inspired by local women in our community,” she said. “Attendees can learn how others have adapted in their life to make their vision come true and then go out and achieve it.”

Local entrepreneur Ngoc Thach of Mix Maker will be the keynote speaker, and other local entrepreneurs Sarah Carnes of 9Clouds, Katrina Yde of Forward Counseling, and Marcela Salas of Salas Salsas will be speaking on the panel.

Sioux Falls business owners of CMPFITness Chris and Annie Mello will lead the interactive workshop called Fundamentals of Living Your Best Life in the Workplace where attendees will create a one-page business plan focused on the principles of the extended work session One Word That Will Change Your Life.

Not able to make it and/or interested in other events by the center? The SD CEO East Business Center offers monthly programming.

Swier says the theme of the day is to “aspire, adapt, and to achieve.”

“I’m looking forward to the amazing speakers and gather a new group of people to build community!” – Sadie Swier

“These will be trainings, workshops, and two more conferences,” said Swier. “I’m personally excited for upcoming Entrepreneur Bootcamps and financial literacy trainings. We’ll be able to share all of those at our website soon. People should expect to leave with a sense of satisfaction of taking the time to invest in themselves and our overall community.”
