K Bar S Lodge offers a seasonal retreat that blends natural beauty with upscale comfort. Whether guests seek adventure, relaxation, or both, the lodge serves as a getaway to the wonders of the Hills.

“The lodge is a unique property,” said general manager Kyle Olson. “We’re less than a mile from all of the action in Keystone, but our quiet, secluded location gives our guests the feeling that they’re miles away from stress and have the opportunity to truly relax.”

With a total of 96 hotel rooms to reserve, Olson says it’s easy to find a room that offers a home away from home.

Guests are welcomed into a world of rustic elegance. The nature-inspired rooms are thoughtfully designed to provide comfort with modern amenities, plush beds, and fantastic views of the flourishing Hills.

“One amazing feature is that about half of our rooms have an attached deck where you can look at the profile view of George Washington on Mount Rushmore National Memorial,” said Olson.

DID YOU KNOW?

K Bar S Lodge’s name is a combination of the original owners Howard and Audrey Shaff’s last names. “K” is for Audrey’s maiden name Karl and “S” is for Shaff. K Bar S was also the name of the couple’s cattle brand from a previously owned ranch.

No visit to the K Bar S Lodge is complete without savoring the authentic flavors of Keystone.

Guests can start their morning off right with a hearty and healthy breakfast with the Deluxe Continental Breakfast

“We feature an extensive breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage or ham, biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos, fresh-baked danishes, muffins, a Greek yogurt bar, a fresh oatmeal bar, pancakes, and more,” shared Olson.

Guests also won’t have to travel far to obtain their daily caffeine fix. The Coffee Shop is mere steps away, offering an extensive menu of café favorites.

The menu includes fan-favorite lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, chai teas, and espresso drinks using locally-roasted Dark Canyon Coffee

After a long day exploring South Dakota’s natural landscape, enjoy a hearty meal at The Pub. The onsite eatery offers an extensive menu of hand-pattied smash burgers, salads, sandwiches, and flatbread pizzas.

For starters, munch on Pub Pretzels, Mozzarella Sticks, BBQ Pulled Pork Nachos, or the signature K Bar S Fries

Move on to devour a Pineapple Pulled Pork and Bacon Pizza, K Bar S Burger, Grandma Joyce’s Orange Salad, or the Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese

Olson shares that guests can’t go wrong when they pair their meal with a local beer from the lodge’s rotating selections.

“We typically keep nine beers on tap from breweries like Mt. Rushmore Brewing Company, Lost Cabin Beer Co., and Remedy Brewing Company,” he said. “We want to give our guests the authentic taste of South Dakota brews.”

“The K Bar S Lodge hosts a wide variety of business, from motor coach tours, business retreats, weddings, family reunions, to couples or families looking for a clean, comfortable, quiet place to stay while visiting the Hills.” – Kyle Olson

K Bar S Lodge is located near a plethora of outdoor adventures. With its proximity to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park, Needles Highway, and Sylvan Lake, visitors can embark on a day of adventure.

At the end of a day full of excursions, unwind in the heart of the lodge in front of the stone firepit. Here, guests can sink into comfortable seats and visit with friends and family.

In addition to lodging, K Bar S Lodge has solidified itself as a premier meeting and event destination.

“We’ve hosted everything from weddings, corporate meetings and retreats, family reunions, church retreats, and more,” shared Olson.

With a total of three meeting rooms, three dining rooms, and areas for indoor and outdoor weddings, the lodge provides inclusive services and amenities to promote efficiency.

NEW OWNERSHIP

The Riddle family of Riddle’s Jewelry purchased the property in 2006 and is still owned by them today. In fact, jewelry from the company is available for purchase in the lobby.

The Lakota Room is the perfect choice for a small to midsize wedding reception with flexible seating hosting up to 200 guests.

The Dakota Room is available for an indoor wedding ceremony for up to 200 guests. In-season weddings are able to rent the on-site glass gazebo, if available.

“We have our glass-enclosed gazebo, which is a beautiful spot for an indoor wedding ceremony or an amazing dinner while you take in the views of the property,” said Olson.

The Gold Room hosts the ideal setting for medium-sized meetings. The space is equipped with furniture, audiovisual equipment, a high-definition projector, a built-in screen, and microphones.

To Olson, the setting of K Bar S Lodge is an experience in itself. Encompassed by ponderosa pines, oak trees, and granite rock truly showcases a tranquil view.

“The peacefulness that guests experience when staying with us is not something you’ll find with most hotels,” said Olson.
