Clients at a local medical spa aren’t the only ones getting a refresh. Liv Med Spa of Sioux Falls recently reopened on September 8 at their brand new building and location at 3800 East Vendavel Street.
Owner, founder, and nurse practitioner Kasandra Wheeler started the boutique spa in 2023 in a small salon suite.
“When I started my business, I was working full time as a nurse practitioner and was expecting my fourth baby,” recalled Wheeler. “I had no time to prioritize my own health and wellness, and felt the strain it was taking on my mental health.”
Wheeler suddenly realized she could go off on her own as an entrepreneur, practicing independently as a nurse practitioner and offering services that aligned with her goals of helping men and women invest in their health and wellness and feel confident and supported at every stage of life.
Over the last four years, she has expanded from a team of one to two nurse practitioners, three registered nurses, one esthetician, and an office coordinator. With that continued growth, the business has been able to build the new freestanding location.
“Scaling my business has never been about the physical size of my team or location, it’s about choosing and investing in the right people with the expertise to execute our services well,” said Wheeler.
Liv Med Spa now has a comprehensive list of offerings including injectables, laser, medical weight loss, hormone replacement therapy, facials, and more.
“The long-term vision for my business is offering a variety of services using the best technology, enhancing the patient experience, and maintaining a reliable, ethical, and sustainable practice in the community,” said Wheeler. “Our practice is focused on building long-term relationships with honest recommendations and educated guidance along the way.”
Wheeler says it feels good to see her goals become fully executed under a new roof, and that she couldn’t have done it without the right crew. Cosand Construction, 4D Design + Consulting, and Laura Lien Interiors built and designed the medical spaces, which she wanted to feel modern and inviting.
“It has the functionality we need, but also the warm and cozy environment we really wanted to maintain,” said Wheeler. “I want people to feel welcomed and at home when they enter our space. Laura Lien’s attention to detail is exceptional and unlike anyone I’ve ever worked with.”
Liv Med Spa blended historical elements (i.e. outside brick to the black and white tile) with a modern touch, offering an array of character. Each space is designed to have its own look, with every room adorned with different wallpaper and décor, while also remaining cohesive.
Wheeler also wanted a lot of natural light and warmth, which became a focal point of the process.
“The design speaks to us as a practice,” she said. “My team is extremely kind, genuine, and extremely detail oriented, focusing on the entire patient experience in our space.”

Wheeler, Cosand Construction, and Laura Lien Interiors hand-picked every finish to elevate the building, along with considering long-term function.
“While it was stressful at times, they made the build and design process very easy for me so I could maintain focus on my business operations,” said Wheeler.
Liv Med Spa’s core services are aesthetic treatments, including Botox and dermal fillers, biostimulators, microneedling, and laser tattoo removal. Tattoo removal is one of the owner’s biggest passions, spending the last two years learning laser physics and investing in the best Pico Laser technology to provide the highest results.
“While the technology makes a difference in tattoo removal, the actual knowledge and experience of the operator makes a bigger difference,” said Wheeler. “I have traveled to train with experts in the industry to treat some of the most challenging tattoos
The people behind the treatments are the key to the business’s success.
“I cannot stress enough the difference with our practice is the team of people we have,” said Wheeler. “We are dedicated to the services we offer and prioritize ongoing learning and education to execute them well.”
They now also offer laser hair removal, hormone replacement therapy, peptide therapy, red light therapy, facials, lash and brow services, and professional makeup.
From an internal perspective, Wheeler is excited to continue to lead and mentor her team.
“I’m just so grateful for the opportunity to do what I love. My patients trust me, my team trusts me, and we get to enhance people’s lives. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!”

The Liv Med Spa team says they also have the best patients.
“I think we attract people who just want honest opinions, value our knowledge, and don’t want to be ‘sold’ to,” said Wheeler. “We are focused on education, which helps guide decision-making. Wheeler attributes her success to surrounding herself with positive people and leaders throughout her journey.
“If I allowed doubts or hesitation to take over, I would have quit hundreds of times,” she said. “Building a business as a mother—as a female—is difficult, but I’ve never let anything stop me. I think you can accomplish anything you want with hard work, determination, and a vision.”
The team will be celebrating that vision with a Grand Opening event on October 1 for the community to stop by for a tour, local vendors, and much more.
