WHEEL JAM 2019

May 30-31. South Dakota State Fairgrounds, Huron. Times vary. Cars. Motorcycles. Trucks. Wheel Jam 2019 has them all, and more. These two days will be a motor-head’s dream with a Dynamic Engine Break Competition and Pick-Up Party, not to mention live music from Eclipse and Flashback. More info: wheeljam.com.

2019 MISS SOUTH DAKOTA

May 30 – June 1. SDSU Performing Arts Center, Brookings.Times vary. Service, scholarship, success, and style are the four points of the Miss South Dakota mission. Acting as the preliminary competition to Miss America, this event focuses on empowering young women while instilling pride in South Dakota. More info: misssd.org.

PORKPALOOZA

June 1. 8th & Railroad, Sioux Falls. 11 a.m. Two days of all things pork, ranging from a Rib Cook-Off to a regional BBQ sauce tasting, await downtown Sioux Falls. Sip on local beer while listening to music from Dustin Evans and the Good Times Band and Judd Hoos, all while raising money for Feeding South Dakota. Don’t forget to get there while the pit masters are cooking and the pork is sizzling. More info: facebook.com.

YANKTON RIBFEST

June 1. Historic Downtown, Yankton. 11 a.m. Kick off summer in downtown Yankton with the 12th Annual Yankton Ribfest. Besides the Amateur Rib Contest and rockin’ kids area, this event will showcase over nine local food vendors, including Rolling Waiters and Broken Trellis, not to mention live music from bands like Kings of Oblivion and Black Water Band. DAIRY FEST

June 1. Swiftel Center, Brookings. 10 a.m. We can’t think of a better way to start off Dairy Month than with a festival devoted solely to cheese, milk, ice cream, and more. Moooove on to the dairy farm tour and keep things exciting with bounce houses and the Moo Cow Barn Dance. More info: swiftelcenter.com.
