33RD ANNUAL PIG ROAST + MILITARY APPRECIATION EVENT

July 30. Main Street Square, Rapid City. 6 p.m. Head to Main Street Square for the 33rd Annual Military Appreciation Pig Roast. 10 service members will be honored, as well as the military community as a whole. COBORN'S STRONG MAN AND WOMAN COMPETITION

August 2. Coborn’s, Mitchell. 5:30 p.m. Whether you excel at truck pulls or medicine ball throws, make your way to Mitchell’s Coborn’s. Prove your strength and endurance in this annual showdown of the toughest of the tough. More info: facebook.com.

SIOUX RIVER FOLK FESTIVAL

August 2-4. Newton Hills State Park, Canton. Times vary. The time has come for the annual Sioux River Folk Festival put on by the South Dakota Friends of Traditional Music. This festival will not only showcase music from 11+ performers like Chuck Suchy and The Way Down Wanderers, but will also include local food, raffles, and square dancing. More info: sdfotm.org.

SIOUX EMPIRE FAIR

August 2-10. W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds, Sioux Falls. Times vary. 2019 marks 80 years of the Sioux Empire Fair bringing rides, entertainment, and all-around fun to Sioux Falls. Check out musical acts like Keith Urban and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in between riding the Ferris Wheel or the Zipper. More info: siouxempirefair.com.

79TH STURIGS MOTORCYCLE RALLY

August 2-11. Sturgis. All day. Come attend the 79th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Explore the best of Sturgis with 10 days and nights of riding, food, and music from artists like Keith Urban, Styx, Snoop Dogg, and many more.
