VOICES FROM THE PAST: WOODLAWN BY LANTERN TOUR

October 24-26. Woodlawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls. Times vary. Delve into the history of Sioux Falls by witnessing the city’s very own historical figures tell the stories of their past. Characters like Luella Belle Pettigrew and the murdered wife of Thomas Egan are just a few of the faces you will see roaming the shadows of the Woodlawn Cemetery. More info: siouxlandmuseums.com.

HAUNTED FOREST

October 25-26. Storybook Land and Wylie Park, Aberdeen. 6:30 p.m. Don’t miss this Halloween tradition that will leave you feeling spooked until next season. Complete with hidden terrors and sneaky characters, the Haunted Forest takes you through various indoor and outdoor scenes. Not ready for that level of scare? HAUNTED TRAIL AT THE GARDENS

October 25-26. McCrory Gardens, Brookings. 8 p.m. Sponsored by three different South Dakota State University groups, watch the beautiful McCrory Gardens turn into a trail of terrors for the Halloween season. “Expect your worst nightmares to come alive,” and don’t forget your non-perishable canned item for a discount on entry. More info: mccrorygardens.com.

DEADWEIRD

October 25-26. Downtown, Deadwood. Times vary. What do you get when you take history, Halloween, and the weirdest folks around? The answer is Deadweird. Get spooky with The 7th Annual Monster Ball, a Costume Contest, and full weekend of all things ghoulish. Not into the holiday? SCARE IN THE SQUARE

October 26. Main Street Square, Rapid City. 1 p.m. Held in conjunction with Downtown Trick-or-Treat, this family friendly event is the perfect place to try out your costumes, trick-or-treat skills, and candy picking abilities. More info: mainstreetsquarerc.com.
