INAUGURAL LAKOTA FOOD SUMMIT

February 18-20. Holiday Inn-Rushmore Plaza, Rapid City. Times vary. With topics ranging from nutrition to farming, this Lakota food summit will offer attendees the chance to learn about Lakota tradition, while trying hand-on activities. There will also be local vendors and heavy emphasis on Lakota culture. More info: eventbrite.com.

MARDI GRAS

February 21-22. Historic downtown, Deadwood. All day. You don’t need to be in the South to celebrate Mardi Gras in style. Deadwood is offering a free weekend of Cajun food, a masquerade party, and live music to make your Fat Tuesday one to remember. Did we mention there will be a a Mardi Gras Parade? ROCK THE SHRINE

February 22. El Riad Shrine, Sioux Falls. 7 p.m. Going on five years and counting, the El Riad Shrine’s biggest karaoke battle is back with local novelty, PopROCKS! Grab your backup singers and sign up for the best night of karaoke in town. More info: rocktheshrine.com.

SPEARFISH CHALLENGE AND POKER TOUR

February 22. Big Hill Trails, Spearfish. 9 a.m. This poker tour will give participants roughly 1.5 hours to fat bike, cross-country ski, or snowshoe to five locations to receive your hand of cards. Don’t be fooled, each card requires the completion of a task, which will lead to a potentially winning hand. More info: visitspearfish.com.

CABIN FEVER GAMES

February 22. NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Complex, Yankton. 9 a.m. Gather your team and support Pathways Shelter for the Homeless by competing in the 4th annual Cabin Fever Games.
