As content strategist for Miner Brewing Company and Prairie Berry Winery, Andrea Stalheim is always busy covering the favorites (like Red Ass Rhubarb) and the newest (like this month’s Blue Suede Shoes) offerings. 605 asked Stalheim to give us a peek into her life when she’s not busy working on both brands.

A SIOUX FALLS STAPLE

Since I can remember eating bagels, I’ve been eating Bagel Boy. It’s a Sioux Falls staple and one of my favorite places for a quick breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Yes, you can eat bagels anytime. Is it bad they know my name and my order? If you’ve never been, their everything bagel is everything.

TAKE A HIKE

When I need to stretch my legs and get in a good hike, Good Earth State Park is a great option. They have about six miles of trails that run along the Big Sioux River with pretty amazing views.

THE QUEEN IN HER WORLD

I can’t go a week without coffee and a quiche (or scone) from Queen City Bakery.

WALK IT OUT

I have always loved living close to McKennan Park (and so do my dogs). I could walk them there every day and never get tired of it. Summer is especially fun when they have music on Monday nights.

5 RANDOM FACTS

+ I recently went vegan. Or as I like to call it, lazy vegan.

+ I’ve diagnosed myself with misophonia. I can’t stand the sound of people chewing.

+ I’m addicted to true crime shows. It’s my guilty little pleasure.

+ I played the trumpet in marching band. Go Lincoln High School!

+ My likeness was used for a sculpture my brother created for The Good Samaritan Society. I will live on forever in bronze.

NEW UNDERESTIMATE THE CLASSICS

Sometimes the basics are the best. Crack’d Pot Restaurant is a local, down home cooking, no frills kind-of-place. You can sit right at the counter and get a hot cup of coffee from the same friendly face every day. If I need a hash brown and pancake fix, it’s at the top of the list.

HAPPY HOUR

Carpenter Bar is my go-to for happy hour. Hot Toddies by the fire in the winter, a bottle of rosé on the patio in the summer.

CLOSE TO HOME

After work, you can find me at Miner Brewing Co. and Prairie Berry Winery Taproom. It’s a great place to bring people who are new to the craft beer or wine scene. We have so many different styles of beer or wine available that you’re sure to find something new to like. Plus, all of our products are made in South Dakota, which is pretty cool.

WHEELIN’ AND DEALIN’

The first full weekend September through April you’ll find me at Benson’s Flea Market. You never know what you’re going to find until you see it. My rule: You can’t leave without at least buying one item.

REACH THE SUMMIT

It just so happens the Summit League Basketball Tournament is happening this month at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. It’s the one time of the year I go crazy for sports. The Premier Center is a great venue to cheer on the University of South Dakota Coyotes
