1.) SIOUX EMPIRE FAIR

Sioux Falls | August 1-8

Stop by the fairgrounds to attend the 81st Annual Sioux Empire Fair. Pick up tickets for rides, play classic carnival games, peruse the livestock and art exhibits, and don’t forget to grab some fair food. At various times throughout the fair, you can stop by Campbell’s Main Stage for live music, featuring Big & Rich, the Undercover Band, and more. On the last day, Korkow Rodeos and the fair welcome PRCA Rodeo.

2.) STURGIS MOTORCYCLE RALLY

Sturgis | August 7-16

Cruise down to Sturgis for ten days of varying events at the 80th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, from collective motorcycle rides to drag races to the Sturgis 5K. You can even participate in a poker tournament. The rally also features various musical artists from homegrown bands to national names and everything in between. And if you can’t make it to the rally, experience the event from your couch through a network of webcams placed throughout Sturgis, offering a bird’s eye view of the happenings.

3.) 605 SUMMER CLASSIC

Sioux Falls | August 8

This year’s 605 Summer Classic has been revamped to be a one-day, all-South Dakota beer tasting event focusing on celebrating our favorite state. Throughout the event, pick up unlimited samples from more than 20 South Dakota breweries. Come join 605 at Cherapa Place to experience 605 trivia, “West River” and “East River” games, live music from Tenenbaums and Audrianna & Greyson Schulz, food trucks, local vendors, and more.

4.) KOOL DEADWOOD NITES

Deadwood | August 26-30

Pay a visit to Deadwood for five days filled with various attractions including concerts, classic cars, and a parade. Wander the streets and take in the glare of the sun on chrome. Music buffs can attend free concerts at Outlaw Square and Main Street, featuring acts such as The Surfin’ Safari Band, The Grass Roots, and The Buckinghams.

5.) CORN PALACE FESTIVAL 2020

Mitchell | August 26-30

To celebrate the Corn Palace’s annual redecoration, head to Mitchell for the Corn Palace Festival. The Oak Ridge Boys will kick off the event, headlining with their classic gospel and country music. Throughout the long weekend, festival-goers will experience carnival rides, classic fair food, local vendors, and more.

6.) PORKPALOOZA II

Sioux Falls | August 28-29

Head to downtown Sioux Falls for PorkPalooza, featuring competitions like a Rib Cook-off and a Pulled Pork Challenge. Both days will feature different headlining bands including Ground Zero, Guilty Pleasures Orchestra, and more. Hosted by Remedy Brewing Company, KBACK Rock Radio, AGE Media & Promotion, proceeds from the event will benefit LifeScape.
