For Caitlin Weerts, her goal as an interior designer is to help women discover their unique design style and personalize their space, creating an area that brings a sense of joy and belonging.
“Imagine having a home or even just a space that allows you to feel inspired every time you walk through the door—a place where you can truly feel like yourself,” said Weerts.
After leaving her corporate job in the Twin Cities, Weerts settled into becoming a stay-at-home farm wife in Bancroft, SD to prepare for beginning a family. As she sat at home, more often than not, Weerts decided to keep herself busy with home renovations.
“I wanted to make the house feel more like ‘us,’ so I redrew our entire first floor plan and even removed our roof to create the look we wanted,” reminisced Weerts.
As her home renovations were crossing the finish line, Weerts felt in her heart that she needed to create a business where she could help women who share similar experiences.

In 2019, Pleasant Hill Co. was created.
“My goal as a business is to make sure that my clients know there’s always a solution to changing the way a house feels and that it’s incredibly important to love where you live,” shared Weerts.
She continued, “We can make an impact on your space no matter where you’re located and the process doesn’t have to be intimidating.”

the impact I can make on people’s lives. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a client walk into a finished space or having them see their 3D design for the first time, watching their face light up with joy, and knowing what’s possible for their area.
I CHOSE INTERIOR DESIGN BECAUSE…
I’ve had to use creativity to conquer cost and space constraints throughout my life. Design allows me to bring my client’s vision to life, while also allowing me to step outside of my comfort zone and explore new colors, textures, and elements. I love the challenge of taking something old and making it new again.

blending vintage and new elements in my designs. It’s all about finding balance—highlighting the unique features of each antique or vintage item, while also complementing them with new pieces to create a cohesive and visually stunning space.
MY FAVORITE PLACE TO GO FOR INSPIRATION IS…
thrifting and antiquing are my two favorite activities, and luckily, this state has no shortage of amazing hidden gems to explore. Some of my go-to spots include Aunt T’s-Ques Wayside Shoppe and 605 Antiques. When I travel, I’m always looking for inspiration that I can incorporate into my designs. I love taking in the local architecture, the colors and textures of nature, and the unique design elements of different cultures.

I’m a DIY and craft enthusiast, always looking for new things to learn and try out. While I’m not always great at it, it’s all part of the fun. I love decorating for parties. Though I don’t do it too often, it brings me so much joy to create a beautiful space for friends and loved ones to enjoy.

Josiah’s Coffeehouse & Café. They have some of the best buttermilk pancakes in the area.
AT HOME, I SPEND MY TIME…
as a full-time working mom and wife to a farmer. My days are always busy and full of adventure. When I’m not at work, you can usually find me running around the farm with my family. We love exploring the land, checking on the animals, and enjoying the beauty of nature all around us.
ONE THING I LOVE ABOUT SOUTH DAKOTA IS…
the sense of community here. Whether you’re in a small town or a big city, there’s always a sense of connection and support among the people. And of course, the amazing natural beauty all around us—from the rolling hills to the wide-open prairies, there’s nothing quite like the landscapes of South Dakota.
