Event Details:

September 1-30 // Various Locations in Downtown Sioux Falls

Throughout the month of September, visit various restaurants throughout downtown Sioux Falls for the sizzling 3rd Annual Downtown Pork Showdown

“The showdown is presented by Smithfield Foods and is a month-long competition celebrating culinary variety and skill,” said Tenley Schwartz, marketing director for Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc

The anticipated event brings together local chefs, foodies, and anyone with an appreciation for the art of cooking, and savoring pork dishes.

“Each dish features pork, and beyond that, the sky’s the limit,” said Schwartz.

The seventeen participating restaurants have creative liberty when it comes to curating their dishes. With many different ways to enjoy pork, Schwartz says you’re bound to find some new favorites.

The Pork Showdown is a feast for anyone hungry for a good meal, but it’s not just about indulging in mouthwatering dishes – it’s also about experiencing the creativity and innovation that chefs bring to the table.

Participating restaurants and their chefs put their skills to the test as they compete for Showdown Champion

“Each dish is new to the restaurant, which means there’s a large lineup of things you get to try for the first time,” said Schwartz. “It’s fun to see the delicious things they dream up.”

The community can vote and rate each dish, under the categories of Use of Pork, Flavor, Tenderness, Presentation, and Customer Service.

“You’re in for a treat! Scope out the rundown on our website for all the details, including descriptions of competing dishes and restaurant hours.” -Tenley Schwartz

The voting process is simple and easy. Each table will hold a QR code to scan, log into the DTSF Digital Passport, and rate the dish and each restaurant.

“Customers can rate each dish from one to five in each category,” explained Schwartz. “The dish with the highest average score at the end of the month is crowned champion.”

The Downtown Pork Showdown is the perfect way to usher in the fall vibes, says Schwartz.

“We’re turning inward from patio season to the indoors. It’s also a perfect excuse to catch up with friends who’ve been wildly busy all summer. There’s nothing like slowing down and enjoying a meal with the people you love,” she added.
