Entrepreneur Penny Klinedinst started Simply Perfect over 20 years ago in downtown Sioux Falls with a vision and passion for design and creativity. Over time that vision has continued to grow, creating a business centered around helping people find inspiration and bring beauty into their homes.

Simply Perfect has become a place where thoughtful details come together. From the beginning, the goal has been about more than decorating a space—it has been about helping people curate homes that reflect their personalities and the way they want to live.

“One of the most exciting things about Simply Perfect is there is always something new to discover,” said Klinedinst. “Sometimes it’s a statement piece for your home, and other times it’s one small detail that unexpectedly becomes your favorite part of a space.”

Fall is all about layers, and that follows suit in the home décor world. The Simply Perfect team gets excited about pieces that help make a home feel layered and personal, whether it’s seasonal décor, beautiful tabletop pieces, cozy throws, candles, books, and meaningful gifts.

“We love helping people find those layers,” said Klinedinst. “You don’t have to change everything in your home for a new season. Sometimes adding one beautiful throw, a candle, a new piece of décor, or a few thoughtful elements is enough to refresh a space.”

The goal of the interior design and gift boutique is not to make a home look overly decorated, but to make it feel like a place where people want to spend time. As the weather cools off, autumn tends to be when people start to spend more time indoors.

“We believe your home should support the way you live,” said Klinedinst. “It should be beautiful, but also comfortable, functional, and filled with things that make you happy.”

Simply Perfect offers a variety of items, including custom furniture, lighting, window treatments, rugs, art and accessories, and products from its sister company, Freedom Studios.

Freedom Studios helps survivors of human trafficking rehabilitate and heal through creativity and stable employment. Its mission is to give survivors the keys to unlock a new and better chapter in their lives through empowerment, training, and economic independence. Everything under the brand is created by a survivor, including items like bracelets, candles, car diffusers, gift sets, and more.

The store itself is specifically designed to create moments to make perusing easy, and to see possibilities in their home.

“A thoughtfully designed space can become the backdrop for magical moments when we gather with family and friends, unplug from the busyness of life, and focus on the people around us.”

“We love creating a welcoming experience where people can browse, discover something unexpected, and find pieces that feel meaningful to them,” said Klinedinst. “Sometimes all it takes is one idea or one piece to inspire an entirely new vision.”

They also believe investing in your home doesn’t need to necessarily be expensive or extravagant. The main goal is to create an atmosphere where people want to relax and stay a while.

“The best spaces have personality, warmth, and thoughtful details,” said Klinedinst. “Comfortable seating, beautiful lighting, a welcoming table, good food, and room for conversation can make all the difference.”

Simply Perfect recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, which gave them an opportunity to reflect on the journey of the company and the people who have supported them along the way.

“Twenty years represents so much more than time,” said Klinedinst. “It represents relationships, memories, loyal customers, our community, and the many ways Simply Perfect has continued to grow and evolve.”
