At this time in my life, I’m very focused on building Black Hills Barbershop and am constantly educating myself in the barbering industry. This journey has been very surreal. Just a year ago I was unsure how this was going to all come together and today I’m staying late and opening early to meet clients’ barbering needs. I’ve gotten to a point that I’m booked out for several weeks. It’s been hard to make everyone happy, and believe me, I’ve tried.

Growing up in the Black Hills, fishing became a hobby that’s at the top of my list. Typically when I go fishing, it’s for trout or bass, and most often it’s with my girlfriend, brother, or uncle. We always have a great time, and of course I always catch “the biggest fish ever”… well, that’s the story I tell. In the past couple of years I’ve started fly fishing as well. I enjoy visiting with the guys at The Rooster bait shop. I enjoy spending time at Sheridan, Canyon, Pactola, and Horsethief Lakes, to name a few.

RANDOM FACTS:

If I came back to Earth again, I’d be a singer.

I’m a collector of shoes, and my all-time favorite is Air Jordan 4 Retro OG Cement.

I wash my car at least three times a week.

I recently started eating organic foods.

I love getting a good fade and beard trim and will travel all the way to Denver to get one.

I have attended Fountain Springs Church for almost seven years. It’s truly become a blessing in my life. It fills my cup for the week and gives me a lot to think and pray about. I’ve always felt welcomed and have never been disappointed and love being a part of a church that loves God and their community.

I play recreational-league softball at the Star of the West Complex. Currently, I play on the Flying Aces, and this year Black Hills Barbershop was happy to be the main sponsor for the team. Most of my teammates are guys I grew up playing baseball with, and we have a great time.

I enjoy family barbecues, tossing around a football, or playing sandlot baseball with my little brothers, or just simply telling funny stories until we’re all belly laughing uncontrollably! I grew up in Rapid City, and my mom, step-dad, and siblings all live here.

My girlfriend, Katy, is also in the hair industry and a licensed cosmetologist with a large clientele at Mystic Edge. She and I are able to relate on many levels, and she inspires me every day.

I love shopping and supporting downtown local businesses. Between my girlfriend and I, we spend a lot of money and time at some of our favorite places, like S & Company Boutique, Sports-Attic, Alternative Fuel Coffee House, Essence of Coffee, Tally’s Silver Spoon, and Breadroot Natural Foods Co-op. Rapid City is continuously growing, and it’s exciting to see what others are doing and all the creativity in our community.

Music in general has always been one of my favorite indulgences. I have no favorite genre, but I do enjoy live music. We’ve had the opportunity to enjoy Thursday evenings at Summer Nights a few times, and it’s been a blast. I like to get tattoos, and currently I have 11. All of them, except two, were done at Oak & Iron Tattoo in Rapid City. One of my favorites is a stallion horse on my right forearm in memory of my father who passed away in 2015.

I like to go shooting at Beretta Road with friends and family. It’s an enjoyable hobby and gets me outdoors.

In the last couple of years I’ve found a love for photography. I knew eventually I would want to capture better photos of my haircuts. I do have a very talented photographer that I work with now (Tuesday Photography). We have a lot of fun with pictures and videos and love to showcase our work, as well as several others in the industry that share their work on social media.
