Previous experiences, positive or negative, play a huge role in shaping what a patient expects. I think talking about those experiences and understanding what we can do differently is critical in the process.
HOW DID YOU KNOW THIS WAS THE JOB YOU WANTED TO DO?
I went into dental school not knowing exactly what I wanted to do after I graduated. It’s kind of cliche, but I have to say that endodontics just clicked when we got to that topic in dental school.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A PATIENT WHO IS NERVOUS ABOUT A PROCEDURE?
Nervousness about a root canal is normal. There is a stigma that root canals are painful, hated procedures. I am here to tell everyone who will listen that this is not the case with a modern root canal treatment. We have several ways to help with anxiety, ranging from TVs with noise canceling headphones to weighted blankets and heated neck wraps to nitrous oxide and other medications that can help you relax during the procedure.
