Pheasants Forever’s mission is to conserve pheasants, quail, and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public access, education, and conservation advocacy,” said Isaac Full, outreach coordinator.

Across many states and parts of Canada, the organization has over 130,000 members dedicated to their mission.

Full says Pheasants Forever and South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks have had a long-standing relationship, and the groups have banded together to create a new opportunity for veterans with their outreach capabilities.

“It focuses on using the outdoors as a means for healing from PTSD for the individual and working to build whole-family relationships by providing an education-based approach to the resources available in South Dakota,” said Full.

Full shares more about himself and how people can help with the conservation effort.

DO YOU DO ANY HUNTING IN YOUR FREE TIME?

Most of my hunting activities revolve around the moment and the experience and just being outside with my dogs, friends, and wife.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BEST DOG BREEDS FOR HUNTING?

To each their own on the bird dog breeds. I have two labs, Maximus and Adi. I have personally leaned towards labradors for their versatility, trainability, and in-house demeanor.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES?

My favorite outdoor activities would include hunting, fishing, and introducing new hunters to the outdoors. I have had a small migration in my outdoor life recently where I am enjoying and gaining a better appreciation for watching and being part of other people’s success in their outdoor endeavors.

ARE THERE ANY WAYS PEOPLE CAN HELP IN THE CONSERVATION EFFORTS?

Yes. Contact a local chapter, and ask about membership. Or go to pheasantsforever.org, and follow the membership links.

WHEN YOU AREN’T WORKING, WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?

I was married in June of 2021, so much of my time is spent with my beautiful bride growing our relationship and laying the groundwork we see fit to have a successful marriage. Outside of that, I enjoy reading, exploring inside the state and out, working with my dogs, and volunteering to local groups I am part of.
