2.) Frontier Christmas

December 10 | Fort Sisseton Park | Lake City | 10 a.m.

Fort Sisseton Historic State Park will transform into a winter wonderland and help celebrate the holiday season with a historic Frontier Christmas. Enjoy crafts, homemade bread, hands-on activities, sleigh rides, caroling, roasted chestnuts, historic reenactments, and fun for the entire family.


3.) New Year’s Eve in Historic Deadwood

December 31| Various Locations | Deadwood | Times Vary

Ring in the New Year in Historic Deadwood. Throughout the weekend various events will be at Cadillac Jack’s Gaming Resort & the Buffalo Bodega Complex. The Silverado Franklin Hotel and Casino will be hosting a New Year’s party where you can enjoy free favors prior to the ball drop on Historic Main Street at midnight.


4.) Chinook Days

Join locals in celebrating Chinook Days, the anniversary of the world record temperature change in 1943 where the temperature rose 49 degrees in 2 minutes. Festivities include Killian’s Winter Luau, a Winter Carnival, The Chinookfest Beerfest, winter adventure sports, music, arts, local food, and more.


5.) Burning Beetle

January 21 | Pageant Hill | Custer | 4 p.m.

Support the Custer Area Arts at the 11th annual Burning Beetle. Join locals as they march to Pageant Hill with torches to raise awareness of the Mountain Pine Beetle, which has caused damage and destruction to forests. Following the Burning Beetle, a pub crawl will be held throughout downtown Custer.


6.) Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo

January 27-February 4 | Central States Fairgrounds | Rapid City | Times Vary

Join an estimated 331,000 people at the 10 day annual Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo. The stock show features 96 different agriculture-driven events, a trade show, youth events, concerts, and much more.
