Something new is brewing at All Day Café in Sioux Falls, and it’s an interior facelift.

After being closed since March for improvements and renovations, the restaurant at the Western Mall reopened with a new look and the return of “all day” hours, serving dinner again for the first time since the pandemic.

“Like anything else, there comes a time when it needs a fresh look,” said regional manager Kelsey Anderson. “As we discussed bringing dinner service back, that became a big part of the design process.”

WR Hospitality—All Day Café’s restaurant ownership and manager company—wanted to create more separation between the bar and the main dining room, while giving the restaurant a more neutral, modern feel.

Updates included new booths, a partition, a variety of greenery, modern wallpaper, a buffet, updated light fixtures, a cozy waiting area, and more.

“Over time, styles change, and spaces naturally need to be refreshed,” said Anderson. “Our goal was to create an atmosphere that feels welcoming, updated, and comfortable for guests throughout the day and into the evening.”

Since its inception in 2013, the restaurant has been known as a popular brunch spot, boasting on its website “brunch isn’t just a meal, it’s a way of life.” The menu has made-from-scratch items like the popular OMG French Toast and Caramel Banana Pancakes. On the more savory side, All Day Café likes to get creative with egg dishes like the Southern Benny, Café Casserole, Huevos Rancheros, and Ham & Gruyère Omelet.

For those who like to mix salty and sweet, one of their most popular breakfast features is the Chicken ‘N Waffle with buttermilk crispy fried chicken, a belgian waffle, bacon, sunny-up egg, vanilla bourbon syrup, and whipped butter.

Anderson says the restaurant is excited to open for dinner again Tuesday through Saturdays to showcase their chefs’ range.

“Ultimately, we wanted to show guests we’re much more than a breakfast restaurant,” he said. “We’re a seasonal, chef-driven restaurant that enjoys creating new experiences.”

The dinner menu combines “familiar comfort food with fresh twists,” like the Seafood Diablo (shrimp, mussels, garlic, crushed red pepper, spicy marinara, and basil), Lemon Chicken Romano (sautéed chicken, artichoke, mushroom, tomato, caper, white wine, garlic, lemon butter sauce, and mashed potato), and New York Strip Steak (garlic mashed potato with a house vegetable).

“I’ve always been a pasta fan, so my first choice on the dinner menu would be the new Chicken Parmesan paired with a light local beer on tap,” said Anderson. “If you’re in the mood for something different, I’d recommend the Birria Burrito with a margarita. You really can’t go wrong with either combination.”

“Seasonal menus allow us to take advantage of fresh, in-season ingredients while presenting them in creative new ways.”

Drinkwise, All Day Café is known for their mimosas, which can be enjoyed throughout the day with the ADC Celebrate (champagne and orange juice) or mixing it up with a Sunrise (strawberry purée, orange juice, vodka, and champagne). Either can be ordered via a glass or pitcher, and the same goes for the Bellini, Hawaiian, or Cranpeary.

Bloody Marys are also popular, and can be ordered as a House Mary, Bloody Caesar, Cucumber Mary, and Bloody Bull.

There are other Specialty Cocktails as well, like the Spiked Tea, Berry Spritzer, and Raspberry Lemonade. Depending on the season, the staff likes to utilize ingredients in house for the food and drink menu.

“We love incorporating fresh herbs from our patio planters into our seasonal cocktails, which gives each drink a fresh, unique touch,” said Anderson.

The bar also has a rotating local craft beer selection, a variety of domestics, and a wine list.
