Three levels. Sixty climate-controlled golf bays. Six event rooms. Great Shots is Sioux Falls’ newest entertainment destination. But don’t sleep on the food and drinks.

“We’re more than just hot dogs and chicken strips and burgers,” said executive chef Thomas Carland. “People get that concept, and we have great options for that, but on top of that we have elevated menu items, as well.”

The full-service restaurant that “fuels your fun” has a lot of items made from scratch, including the marinara in pizzas, like the Buffalo Chicken. This has mozzarella, buffalo sauce, roasted chicken, and blue cheese crumbles.

GREAT SHOTS HOSTED VIEWING PARTIES FOR EPISODES OF THE BACHELOR IN ITS CHAMPION ROOM, AND EVERY ATTENDEE RECEIVED A ROSE.

“It’s definitely one of our top two sellers here,” said Carland. “We make our own buffalo chicken dip with roasted chicken, cream cheese, and homemade hot sauce.”

He continued, “We’re mainly a scratch menu here. The team roasts all of the braised beef in house, we smoke our own meats, we grind our corn beef. The prime rib is also done in house.”

Speaking of braised beef, the chef says his favorite dish is the Braised Beef Tortellini. This includes braised beef, garlic, portabella, caramelized onion, and marsala cream sauce.

“The braised beef is like a nine-hour cook for us,” said Carland. “It’s comfort-style cooking, yet a little upscale.”

Great Shots is also very adamant of using local products when they can.

“We’re so lucky to have no limitations; it’s actually really cool.” – Sara Meyer

“We get some honey right here in Beresford,” noted Carland.

A prime example is the Sandtrap, which is wonton chips tossed in cinnamon and sugar, sides of chocolate, caramel, cream cheese frosting, and Dahlberg Farms honey.

Another popular item is the SoCal Burger. This dish has guacamole, bacon, jalapeños, sriracha honey, and charred tomato jam.

Alongside the regular dining menu is the catering side of things. Director of food and beverage Sara Meyer says the chefs get creative, like with the charcuterie boards.

“When we make a charcuterie board, no two boards look the same,” she said. “It’s what we have brought in and literally is the mastermind of our sous chef. It’s whatever they’re feeling.”

Meyer says Great Shots constantly is hosting events in rooms like the Champions Club and other unique setups.

“We have a ton of happy hours, luncheons, and evening parties that utilize rooms and bays in our facility,” said Meyer. “We had a 70-year- old’s birthday party and a 4-year-old’s birthday party on the same day, we’ve had bachelor and bachelorette parties, surprise parties, private viewing parties, tons of meetings…”

And with those events come a slew of themed and non-themed beverages, like the Champion Match Margarita. This is a top shelf margarita with Casamigos Blanco Tequila, served with a salted rim.

Looking into spring and beyond, the busy crew is ready for continued volume.

“Sioux Falls, from what I’ve seen and felt, has grasped at the concept of Great Shots,” said Carland. “It’s good to see your neighbors and people you see around local businesses working and then you see their familiar faces here.”
