JUNE FEATURED BREWER
LOST CABIN BEER CO.

Co-founded by Jesse Sheitler and Tom Silbernagel, Lost Cabin Beer Co. is “fueled by craft beer, passion, the great outdoors, fun, and the Black Hills.”

Located in Rapid City, the brewery is on a mission to “make great beer and have a great time doing it.”

“We take our beer very seriously but never ourselves, so it’s not uncommon to see our crew keeping things weird at any opportunity,” said Scheitler.

While enveloping customers in the fun atmosphere of their taproom, he says they’re also trying to immerse the customers in South Dakotan culture.

“While the Hills are notorious for tourist traps, we have always strived to bring authenticity to everything we do,” said Scheitler. “We love where we live, so it has always been our goal to brew beers and create a brand that the people of [South Dakota] can feel connected to.”

Part of the Black Hills culture are the outdoor activities that the employees of Lost Cabin enjoy, along with many visitors.

“If we aren’t at the brewery, you can catch us on a trail hiking, fishing, climbing, camping, or biking,” said Scheitler.

Typically the brewery also hosts events, but due to COVID-19 there are none in June.

“We were incredibly sad to have to clear our event schedule, as we do so love to throw a rager party,” said Scheitler.

Lost Cabin is dedicated to supporting the communities it distributes to. So far, they have given back to 44 charities and have raised $34,346 for various organizations.

As the website states, Lost Cabin is aiming to “leave the world a better place than we found it.”

Soon, the company will be expanding their reach as well.

“This year, we purchased a second production facility and are very much looking forward to distributing beer statewide soon,” said Scheitler.
