Jesse Lee took over ownership of this Brookings local favorite in April 2014. Whether it’s the live music every Friday, their farm-to-table ingredients, or the mouth-watering lunch and dinner menu, Old Market is a must-try.
In the February issue of 605 Magazine, bartender Shane Skinner and baker Lindsey Casey share two of their favorite recipes, and in this web extra, they share two more.
Thyme for the Drop Martini
2 oz. citrus vodka
0.5 oz. simple syrup
1 two-inch sprig of fresh thyme
1/4 lemon, wedged
Muddle lemons, simple syrup, and thyme together. Add vodka and shake vigorously. Strain into a sugar-rimmed martini glass.
Bacon and Brussels Grilled Cheese
2 T butter
2 slices sourdough bread
1/4 cup brussel sprouts
4 slices bacon
1 T goat cheese
1 1/2 T parmesan cheese
1 tsp heavy cream
2 slices white American cheese
Dash of salt
Combine goat cheese, 1 T parmesan, and heavy cream in bowl. Set aside.
Butter both sides of sourdough and toast each side.
Fry bacon until crisp.
Saute brussel sprouts with butter and a dash of salt while bread toasts.
On one slice of bread, spread goat cheese mixture. Top with prepared brussels and remaining parmesan.
Top the other slice of sourdough with bacon and American cheese slices.
Toast until cheese is melted.
